It’s officially been six months since the Iran War started between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and it appears to not seem to be ending or slowing down any time soon.

The war started on Feb. 28 when the US and Israel launched joint missile strikes on key military and political structures in Iran, one of which killed the Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The fighting has spilled into other countries such as Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, and has become a conflict over controlling the crucial trading route, the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the American Enterprise Institute, the cost of the Iran war since April 1 would be about $35 billion and cost each household about $260 in taxes. While many are weary of how much the war has cost and fear there is no end in sight for the conflict, President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he doesn’t worry over the war.

In a report by AP News, President Trump said the following after an interviewer brought up that Vice President JD Vance said he doesn’t think of the Iran conflict as a war.

“I can understand what he’s saying, I call it a military conflict because it’s small potatoes for us. It’s not a big thing,”  President Trump said.

But for many, the Iran War has been a long and hard time for them both physically and mentally. The naval ship USS Lincoln was originally sent out on Nov. 21 near Iran before the war officially began in February. But, the ship only started home on Aug. 21, a full nine month deployment for the crew of the USS Lincoln. According to reports, time has taken its toll not only on the ship, but the people on it too.

In a report by NPR, many people reported that the conditions on the boat have been deteriorating due to the long amount of time out on sea. The crewmates and soldiers mental health have also apparently worsened due to being out at sea for such a long time, with many crewmates supposedly attempting to try to jump off the boat.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth claims that the reports of the conditions on the USS Lincoln are blown out of proportion and that conditions are not as bad as it is claimed to be. Either way, many are worried about the conditions that the crewmates and soldiers are facing on the USS Lincoln.

Luckily, the USS Lincoln is now heading home to America from Iran after nine long months and hopefully conditions will improve for the crewmates and the soldiers onboard.
